At home and still there? Especially for you … our Daily Event Report…
Day 1
Day 2
Day 2 – 14.03.2014
Day 2 of the Splashcup starts with a mega relaxed fruit breakfast at the Aloha Bar.
At the first skippers’ meeting, Tommy explains the course to the racers and our office angels distribute the starting numbers for the 2 starting groups.
The equipment selection takes place under increased adrenaline levels.
As the wind spoiled us with up to 35 knots on the first race day, the first race started at 13:30.
The 5 heats are running at full speed…Klaus does the boom breaker and Uli goes for the wrong tires – i.e. board size, Adam was still looking for the right buoy and loses his bearings…nevertheless, all the starters are highly motivated and give their all.
The happy winner of the day, Klaus, is beaming all over his face when he returns to the beach, as are second-placed Wolfgang and third-placed Paul.
A great atmosphere among the participants and the enthusiastic audience with strong gusts of wind on the ProCenter beach.
The long arms were recharged in the evening in the Villa Kunterbunt with delicious camel steak and freshly caught fish…

Day 3
Day 3 – 15.03.2014
As usual, Ahmed spoils our guests at the start of the day with his wonderful fitness breakfast in a great atmosphere at the Aloha Bar!
The wind has clearly earned a little break today after giving us a great race day yesterday with 30 knots and more! What stands more to reason than attract the watersport addicted people with a SUP Race?
With Alois Mühlegger, we have a true SUP specialist on site, who organised a great SUP race for our guests in no time at all! The enthusiasm for this low wind alternative is immediately reflected in the number of starters, so that with 24 paddlers we were able to complete a total of 11 heats today and at the end of the day the winners and runners-up were decided for both the girls and the boys.
Rankings ladies: 1. Elena (RUS), 2. Verena (GER), 3rd Goofy (PL)
Men’s ranking: 1. Paul (SUI), 2. Bernhard (AUT), 3. Markus (AUT)
Of course, the award ceremony cannot take place without a splash, so the jasmine beach is quickly transformed into a sea of supersoakers that leave no lycra dry.
At the end of the day, the ProCenter team cooks up our legendary BBQ with freshly caught fish, calamari, grilled vegetables and Bavarian potato salad as the basis for Hurghada’s best mojitos!
Our special thanks today go to Alois Mühlegger for organizing the great SUP regatta, where everyone involved had a lot of fun!

Day 4
Day 4 – 16.03.2014
Slogan of the day is „Lazy Sunday“.
The wind and our guests are recovering from the eventful days that are already behind us. As a result, breakfast at the Aloha Bar is celebrated a little more extensively and our Siesta Maker beanbags are the favourite place to be for reading, relaxing, sleeping and chatting.
During the course of the day, the wind picks up a little, so our JP Super Lightwind boards and Neilpryde 10m2 sails are used, as well as the SUPs.
For all those interested, Magda (trainer of the Polish race kiting team) gives a seminar on race kite equipment in the afternoon, explaining the significant differences to normal equipment.
To round off the evening of Lazy Sunday, the ProCenter team will be serving a delicious Italian menu at the Aloha Bar!
Day 5
Day 5 – 17.03.2014
The wind was good again on day 5 of the Splash Cup.
This year, for the first time, we are also organizing a kite regatta at the Splash Cup, where Magda (coach of the Polish national race kiting team) provided us with expert assistance and took over the helm for today’s kite regatta day. All regatta competitors prepared for their respective courses while the hard-working beach fairies distributed the buoys on the water.
The first race was a battle between the racers of the Polish team. Maks took first place, Blasco was second and Martin third. After a short buoy change, the riders in the Twintip class set off on the customised triangle course. With burning thighs after 4 runs, Felix took first place, followed by Denny in second and Carsten in third.
The second part of the kite regatta follows tomorrow with 4 exciting heats in each class. Let’s see who will be the master of the board…
In the afternoon, the surfing community set off on a quad safari in the desert. They enjoyed delicious steaks under the twinkling stars and toasted the successful wind day with beer!
Day 6
Day 6 – 18.03.2014
Day 6 of the Splash Cup is once again the focus of the kite regatta.
After an extensive breakfast, the skippers’ meeting takes place for the race and twintip kiters, who will be competing in the exciting final heats today.
The Polish national team will start with the courserace finals. After 8 exhausting heats, the winners have now been determined. Maks once again gave his all and crossed the finish line first, just like the day before. He was followed by Blasko in second place and Martin in third. As yesterday, there are also girls at the start of this race, of which 16-year-old Elena from Russia, current world champion in the U-18 class, is the first to cross the finish line.
After the course race, the triangle course for the twintip class is set in the water. The riders start in good wind conditions and are extremely motivated.
Felix and Denny deliver an exciting neck-and-neck race for first place. The board and kite are ultimately best controlled by Felix.
He comes first, Denny second and Jan third after 4 heats.
All in all, it was another great windy day on which both kiters and windsurfers got their money’s worth. The evening ended with a relaxed sundowner in the Aloha Bar with Ahmed’s special mojitos…
Day 7
Day 7 – 19.03.2014
On day 7 of the Splash Cup, the wind greeted us in the early hours of the morning.
After the skippers’ meeting, the windsurfers’ slalom race started with a reduced starting field.
In the four heats, Philipp and Klaus fought a fierce match race, with Klaus crossing the finish line a beaming winner and being loudly welcomed and celebrated by the beach crowd.
The end of this year’s regatta is celebrated with a full load of Holy Colors, which are splashed away with bulging supersoakers.
In the end, Tommy is colourful, Magda has blue hair and Mosty has a yellow back of the head.
The surf community enjoys the rest of the day on the boards, as the wind plays along well all day.
In the meantime, Tommy’s office angel Yvonne is spinning the wooden spoons in the kitchen. The goodies for the Tex-Mex dinner in the evening have to be prepared. The gluttony of Mexican food begins at 7 pm. The guests enjoy the food and their full bellies are spoilt with ice-cold beer and mojitos. Tommy adresses an assembly to mark his 25th anniversary at the station and office angel Birte then congratulates him on his anniversary on behalf of the entire team. Then the award ceremony begins…

The legendary Splashcup party then kicked off with this year’s Sugar 80’s theme, where the guests’ ingenuity in terms of their outfits left nothing to be desired. Susanne and Wolfgang’s most creative and elaborate outfit was awarded a voucher for a nice evening at Villa Kunterbunt. The two party grenades kindly left us their costumes, sewn by Susanne from original sails from the 80s, as decoration for our shop.
After the official part, DJ Dani provided us with musical highlights from the eighties and got the party crowd going. While the dance fans were getting their groove on, the tombola took place, with great prices from our sponsors JP, Neilpryde, Cabrinha, Core and Quiksilver, such as a brand new Cabrinha kiteboard.
The party crowd celebrated the birthday until the early hours of the morning!
